Bad crop Good crop Keeping the eyes in the top third of the frame is visually better than cropping into someone’s chin, which to my eye looks like I wasn’t paying attention when I took the shot, and visually this crop (above left) looks awkward. It's no good cropping an image to if you intend to print it at a ratio. If you just crop an image freehand, you may well end up with a weird aspect ratio that is nearly but not quite, meaning the image would need to be cropped again for printing. I'm new into all the cropping things, but I am learning. I already know there are 3 types of different ear crops.
